The Milwaukee Brewers are baseball's champions for the first time. They beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday, 28 October, winning the series four games to one.

It is the first title in the club's 57-year history, and its first World Series appearance since 1982.

Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski threw five and two-thirds scoreless innings before leaving with a cramp in his right calf. The final out came in the ninth inning, when the Rays' Richie Palacios grounded out.

Tampa Bay's only win came in Game 4, in extra innings: its first walk-off win in the playoffs since 2020.

Catcher William Contreras was named Most Valuable Player of the series. He batted .381 with four runs batted in. Infielder Cooper Pratt also starred, hitting .421 against the Rays.
